My Speech

 Buying VS Leasing a car

Today I’m going to be talking to you about, should you buy or lease a car?

Choosing whether to lease a new vehicle instead of buying it largely comes down to priorities. For some drivers, leasing or buying is purely a matter of dollars. Before choosing which road to go down, it’s important to understand the key important facts. What would you choose?

The Basics of leasing.

When you lease a vehicle, you’re basically renting it from the dealer for a certain length of time - that’s usually 36 or 48 months. Once your time ends, you have the option of returning the vehicle to the dealer or purchasing it at a prepay amount you’ve got left, which is said in the lease contract.

But wait a minute, what about interest… What is an interest rate?

An interest rate is the amount of interest due per time, as a proportion of the amount, deposited or borrowed. The total interest on an amount given to you or borrowed depends on the payable sum, the interest amount,

What is the interest rate of leasing a car?

The average monthly contract payment is $487, compared with $548 for a new-car purchase and $411 for used cars.

Over the time of 8 years the price of leasing a car has come down by 19%

How much would you have to pay over 48 months for a car lease?

If you're cars price is $15,000 and you're paying it of fortnightly you will roughly be paying of $205.25 a fortnight but there will be interest on that… so that an extra $20.52 per fortnight. Thats if the interest rate is 10% but it’s often higher.

Buying:

Unfortunately, there is no answer. How to obtain a vehicle it largely depends on one’s priorities - whether it’s being the deal financially, having the luxury of getting behind a new set of wheels every few years or driving a car more expensive then you can afford to own. When it comes to the best deal, buying is normally much better than leasing.

Check the paper work

Check that the car has a current warrant of fitness-vehicles for sale must have a current warrant of fitness less than 1 month old.

Ask the seller for any service or repair history.

My opinion is that I would lease the car and then purchase it at remaining amount. This is because I would be paying it off over time rather than paying a big lump some.
